Our Story
RiboStar is a developmental-stage company that has knowledge and expertise to address several of the most significant and difficult problems in the meat processing industries. The Company is prepared to become the domestic promoter and provider of RiboStar to the US pork, poultry, beef and bison markets.
RiboStar, a pioneer in the study of ribose and its benefits, has created patent-pending applications that bring the power of ribose to the masses, in a new generation of applications for this amazing nutrient that adds value and enjoyment to one of life’s basic needs and pleasures…eating.
The experts at RiboStar have indeed found a way to use ribose to significantly impact the flavor, tenderness and juiciness of meat, in a 100% all natural (and humane) way. You see, the digestive system of monogastric animals is very similar to humans, and when ribose is ingested prior to processing it has a dramatic impact on the animal at the cellular level. It relaxes the muscle tissue in their body, in a similar manner that it does in treating human muscle conditions. This, in turn, yields what consumer focus groups have validated as a superlative food product. No gimmicks, all natural, totally safe; it is a chemical made in our body. Taste tested side by side, ribose pork provides dramatically more enjoyment than meat that has not had the benefit of ribose.
RiboStar has a patent-pending technology to address several of the nettlesome problems in pork production and processing, including consumer acceptance of pork products. We propose to license this technology to pork and poultry processors. In addition to the pork industry, other meat industry sectors can improve quality and productivity and to solve difficult problems by RiboStar’ s technology.
The results of our early studies have shown improved flavor, taste and tenderness of pork from pigs given RiboStar prior to harvest. This even included one study where the producer was well-known to produce high quality animals that demanded a premium price. Even in this rigorous study, Ribostar’s technology was rated superior. The timing of this project is most favorable because the meat industry is being subjected to competition from a new sector-namely, plant proteins. “Beyond Meat” recently issued public shares and has seem them soar. We believe that the meat industry will need to urgently improve the eating quality of meat and we further believe that our patent pending technology is likely to provide the necessary information to help the meat and poultry industries at a crucial time.
The size of the world’s hog production enterprise is enormous. Data from 2018 shows that China produced 441 million pigs; European Union, 150 million, the United States, 73 million. RiboStar is well situated in the area of the United States regarding hog production. Iowa leads the list with 2018 production of 23 million; North Carolina, 8.9 million, Minnesota, 8.7 million and Illinois, 5.2 million.
RiboStar has several advantages compared to other feed additives such as antibiotics. RiboStar has contacted USDA to determine if any restrictions exist for the use of RiboStar as a feed or water additive. There are none. The FDA has ruled ribose to be generally recognized as safe (GRAS) as a food additive and rated ribose as a Dietary Supplement for certain applications in humans. Clearly these regulations are derived in part from the fact that ribose is made by all tissues in the human body and the fact that ribose the fermentation product is the same as ribose made by the human body. Ribose, although technically a sugar, is not metabolized for calories but instead preserved for use in the ATP molecule, the chemical form of energy that life itself depends upon.
Our research and expertise prove that RiboStar is positioned to be a disruptor in the pork and poultry processing marketplace. The company is poised to dramatically impact both the profitability of processors while at the same time significantly enhancing the consumer value proposition. Our exclusive arrangement with the major producer of ribose allows us to deliver a high grade product at a price point that has an immediate impact to partner profitability.
There are three profit centers for the company to which the investor returns are substantial. One, net price per pound of pork meat processed, two, the market development of RiboStar to the agricultural animals’ marketplace and thirdly, a portion of the net savings from pigs being shipped to harvest savings. Similar economics exist for the poultry industry.
A large pig processor can process 19,000 per day and have an average of 5 days per week equals 5,000,000 pigs annually. If each pig is approximately 250 pounds, it takes approximately a ¼ of a pound of RiboStar for each pig to have the desired molecular effect. Thus, on a net basis of 46% of the pig’s weight being used by the processor it would be approximately 5 cents cost on a net weight basis. At 10 cents margin, it provides a significant investor return. On this example, over $7.5 million on a net pound basis to RiboStar investors.
